Greetings Parents and Guardians! My name is Mrs. Hampton and I am the Parent & Family Liaison for Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School. Our school takes pride in helping parents get the information and support they need to ensure their child’s academic and social success. Here is more information for you:

The McKinney-Vento Program (MVP), the District's Homeless Education Program consists of the Homeless Liaison, the Academic Support Specialist, and the MVP Case Managers who provide assistance to homeless children and youth, including unaccompanied homeless youth throughout the District in compliance with the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act. The McKinney-Vento Act protects the educational rights of children and youth experiencing homelessness and seeks to remove barriers often experienced by students experiencing homelessness in enrolling, attending, and succeeding in school.

Who is Eligible for Services?

If, due to a loss of housing, you must live in a shelter, motel, vehicle, or campground, on the street, in abandoned buildings, or doubled-up with relatives or friends, then you are eligible to receive services provided under the McKinney-Vento Act. Unaccompanied youth experiencing homelessness are also eligible for services under the McKinney-Vento Act. Feel free to contact us if you have questions regarding McKinney-Vento Act services.
